Working with the client’s architect, we undertook a full refurbishment of this substantial flat in the West End of Glasgow. The end result is a contemporary yet comfortable home to be proud of.
Simon and his company completely renovated a 4-bedroom apartment for us. During most of this time we were abroad but were constantly sent updates and photographs on the progress of the work and were consulted during every step in the process. We are delighted with the end result and would definitely recommend west renovations.”
- Allan & Anne Flat Refurbishment: Miller Street
We completely refurbished a Merchant City flat for clients Iain and Rowan Craik who purchased the property to let out for short term holiday lets. The flat is a two-bedroom duplex apartment situated within a conversion of a Belle Époque era substantial merchants’ warehouse.
Our team removed the wall dividing the kitchen from the lounge to provide a 35m2 open plan lounge-kitchen-dining area. We designed and fitted a stylish Trend Interiors gloss white kitchen with high specification appliances, solid walnut worktops and a breakfast bar.
On top of this, we created an ensuite for the master bedroom, installed new flooring throughout and fully re-decorated the flat.
Iain and Rowan have had a good response from the market and clients have been delighted with the flat. If you’re interested in staying at the flat go to the Heart of Glasgow website for more.
Regent Park Square, Strathbungo
This was a complete transformation of a gloomy garden level of a three-storey townhouse. We rewired, replumbed, and installed a superb j-handled cream kitchen with utility room re-face as well. Other work carried out includes installation of replacement windows, insulating works, full décor updates and installation of Caledonian oak flooring throughout, all to our standard top drawer finish.
“We used West Renovations (aka Kitchen Design Glasgow) to renovate the entire basement/garden level of our townhouse. We were extremely impressed with the service provided by Simon, Martin and the rest of the West team. Their timekeeping and professionalism were second-to-none and we have been delighted with the high standard of the completed work. The quote we received was extremely competitive, the team were reliable from beginning to end and the job was completed right on schedule. We would recommend West to anyone and we fully intend to use them again for the next stage of our renovations.” - Lucy and Ross McGeoch
An old school has been brought to life in a Bearsden coffee shop. Stone from the Edwardian-era school has been used as part of the makeover at Rose and Grants. The result has been given top marks by proprietor Ben Rose who wanted a natural look to compliment his natural produce.
His shop is in a 1910 building in a conservation area and for the makeover Ben wanted someone who specialises in old buildings so he contacted Simon Dale of Glasgow-based Kitchen Design Glasgow.
“People often try and modernise things without putting much thought into it but you need to complement the old with the new and that is what Simon is really good at,” said Ben. “We have used Simon before and he is very good with old buildings as he knows what works and is not put off by them.”
“He did up our first shop in the Merchant City with really nice wood panelling, an oak floor and oak counter. Then he did our home in the West End which is a converted townhouse in one of oldest streets in Glasgow – the building dates from 1848. Someone had made a complete mess of it but he came and sorted it out. It was a real labour of love and it is beautiful.”
This time, during a seven-day shut-down, Simon’s team stripped out the front of house, renewed the plumbing supply and electrics, fitted brushed and oiled oak flooring throughout, re-fitted the WC and changing area with natural travertine tiles, and did a full repaint in natural colours.
However, the highlight is a specially created stone façade made from reclaimed sandstone from a demolished Govan school.
“Our mason ‘sliced’ the sandstone and used the slices like tiles to form a wall and pointed it to look like a random rubble wall. We cut small stone paving slabs for the quoins (corner stones) and added a solid granite shelf.”
Ben – and the regulars at the shop – are delighted with the new look.
“It’s fantastic,” said Ben. “Really brilliant. It was all plasterboard and halogen lighting but using the reclaimed stone from a building of the same age means we have now got a masonry wall in a building that would have had a stone wall rather than plaster board.”
“I wanted everything natural to set off what we sell as almost everything is homemade from the baking to the salads. I wanted the surroundings to reflect what we are doing and Simon has really pulled it off.” Bearsden Renovation
A kitchen and bathroom renovation that became a full interior renovation. Whole house rewired, re-plastered, new joiner finishes, full décor, fireplace, log burner stove, sanded and varnished floors and Caledonian oak floors and of course full renovation of the bathroom and kitchen.
The dowdy, tired looking 1930’s build is now a beautiful, light and relaxing home.
Kyle and Susannah – Bearsden
The team were back in Bearsden to transform the ground floor of a John Lawrence semi recently purchased by Kyle and Susannah. The couple, both Civil Engineers, wanted the living room, dining and kitchen to become an open plan flowing space with access to the garden via patio doors and a deck and a cloakroom created in the hallway.
Enter West Renovations (aka Kitchen Design Glasgow), and four weeks later Kyle and Susannah have the home of their dreams (well, ground floor – we’ll be returning for phase 2 upstairs). Gone is the dreary 70’s decor and galley kitchen replaced with a beautiful Trend Interiors Shaker kitchen in pumice with solid oak worktops and open plan dining/living area in crisp Farrow and Ball All White.
“We approached Simon and Martin to help us renovate the ground floor of our house. We had a plan for opening out our kitchen to add it to our already open plan living and dining room, and also with our need to add a new toilet downstairs. They executed our plan brilliantly. We wanted a team that we could trust, that would bring a professional approach, and would also be proud of their work and have a fine attention to detail. Our expectations were met. The guys were happy to introduce us to previous clients to demonstrate their capability which gave us the reassurance we needed as the previous clients were always happy to tell us how good they were. Simon and Martin were happy for us to visit the house regularly to review the work being done and suggest new ideas or consult us on necessary changes. They worked safely. They communicated everything really well and involved us as little or as much as we wanted. They gave us advance warning of any changes required to the budget. They drew up a 3D image of the kitchen so that we could make sure we were making the most of the space. They put us in touch with someone to help us with the building warrant. They had a great team of people helping them with every aspect. We now have our ground floor renovated to a really high standard that we are all proud of, including a kitchen that we always wanted! Now we are happy to show their clients their work on our house. We look forward to them helping us with the rest of the house, and have recommended them numerous times to others already.” - Kyle & Susannah Contact Us
